“Before starting NIA I felt a bit self conscious about it and worried I may not be able to keep up or look silly. In reality everyone is focused on their own dance space and Cheryl the teacher so it isn’t competitive at all and although it was easier to do that I feared, it didn’t matter anyway! I love being able to express myself through movement to the music. NIA has given me a freedom and a joyful feeling in movement and is a part of my fitness regime – very different from conventional aerobic exercise in my experience but with the aerobic benefits.I would highly recommend NIA to anyone of all ages and fitness levels and I am so pleased to have met Cheryl as she is a lovely , kind and inspiring person and teacher. ” TD 2015

“When I was offered a free Nia session, I jumped at the chance to find out what Nia entailed. I had often thought about going along to a class but not knowing anything about Nia I was a bit apprehensive as I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to keep up and that I might embarrass myself. I was also overweight and that didn’t help my self-confidence.None of my fears or apprehensions came to pass as I found a small and friendly class, structured so that I could take it at my pace and despite being a bit uncoordinated and breathless at times I didn’t feel embarrassed at all. The routines were explained and choreographed by Cheryl. My Nia adventure and experience began that evening and continues today. I love the music and the dance of Nia, the two can take you to a place of fun and relaxation away from the stresses of the day. Nia has contributed to my weight loss, fitness, self-confidence and general well being. I have found that Nia can be meditative, aiding relaxation and sleep. That it would be either too ‘hippie’ or too ‘dance-y’.What I love about a Nia class is simple – I leave feeling so alive but so relaxed – in a way no other class has ever made me feel. “As I had done Nia before (although quite a while ago!) I had an idea what to expect: however, having friends to go with for the first session made it a lot less daunting and much more fun! Nia works muscles you didn’t know you had and burns fat in a fun, enjoyable way. You can really lose yourself in the music and personal expression to the level you want to work at. If you fancy a dance class with a difference which gets you fit without the intensity of an aerobics lesson whilst having fun with a group of friends then Nia is for you!” TC 2015
